This series illustrates the emotional journey of processing the death of another. By addressing the turmoil of struggle, attachment, and finally severance, the viewer bears witness to the progression these works portray. I chose graphite, ink, and powdered pigments for their raw and unforgiving nature; nothing is erased and everything must be seen. Thus, the materials accurately respond to the emotions experienced. In addition, the implications of a black and white color scheme strip down the works to its bare bones revealing the dark nature of the subject at hand.
